Five Reasons to Opt for Dental Implants

Dental implants are becoming more and more popular as time goes on.

We wont lie and tell you that they are incredibly affordable but they certainly have their benefits! They’re the perfect way to make up for lost teeth, or even just to replace rotten ones. There are many reasons someone would get implants and there are different kinds.

Dental Implants

Today, there are more than 30 different types of dental implants that are considered as traditional and standard, including two others called mini and micro-mini. The mini implants work in the same way as the traditional ones but are smaller in size. The micro-mini implants are varied in design, but they are smaller and narrower. The micro-mini implants are also more temporary and designed to be removed as of when required.

What you can get.

There are single tooth implants, as per the name suggests, this type of implant supports one single crown. If there are multiple teeth missing, the surgeon will place multiple implants that support the bridge. Every 3-unit bridge is supported by 2 or more implants. A minimum number of 5 to 10 implants are needed in order to fill a full jaw. Endosteal implants are placed in the actual jawbone. It is shaped like a small screw or plate and is the most common type of implant that dental surgeons use.

Dental Implants

A subperiosteal implant is placed under the gum, just above the jawbone. It is suitable for patients with a shallow jawbone who cannot or will not undergo bone grafting. If the patient has no teeth, a fixed bridge is placed in the gum in combination with the dental implants. This is the best long-term solution for people who have lost all their teeth. Thanks to the advances in dental technology, it is now possible to replace a full jaw with a fixed bridge and dental implants that will result in a permanent solution. Though there are many different options, we want to give you 5 general reasons you should consider getting dental implants.

Continue a normal life.

Implants are the next best thing to healthy and strong teeth. Unlike many others cosmetic procedures like veneers or teeth straightening, dental implants allow you to do whatever you want! You will be able to eat and enjoy the same foods and drinks you always have! They feel just like a natural tooth and unlike other alternative methods, implants don’t lead to bone deterioration or interfere with eating, speaking, and smiling.

Dental Implants

Denture Implants

Stop unwanted movement.

When you lose a tooth, the surrounding teeth will eventually begin moving to fill in the space. This can cause a number of dental complications. Unevenly spaced or crowded teeth are harder to keep clean and could cost you a fortune down the road in orthodontic care. Placing in dental implants now will keep your teeth properly spaced and make it easy to keep them clean.

Implant supported dentures.

Many people complain of a wide variety of complications with their dentures. Poor fit, sores in their mouths, sunken lips, and food restrictions. If you wear dentures, you can get a fixed, permanent solution with implant-supported dentures. There are various procedures available and some even support a full arch of prosthetic teeth with as few as four implants. You’ll be able to continue your life as if you still had your original teeth!

Dental Implants

Keep your jawbone healthy.

If you choose to place a fixed bridge instead of getting a dental implant, your jawbone will eventually begin to deteriorate underneath the missing tooth. This occurs because you don’t receive adequate stimulation to the bone without a tooth root. The same also occurs with dentures that are not implant-supported. If this is something you’re experiencing just now, the longer you wait to get dental implants, the more likely it is that your jawbone may lack the integrity to get implants in the future without a dental bone graft.

Preserve your appearance.

When your jawbone begins to deteriorate because of missing teeth, it often causes your face to appear sunken in. This can make you look years older than you are. This is why people with dentures often complain of having thin lips and sunken cheeks. Dental implant posts provide the stimulation your body needs to produce dense, healthy jawbone material and keep your face looking full and youthful. Not to mention dental implants will keep your teeth looking and feeling natural!

Dental Implants are good option to cure broken, chipped, gaped and stained tooth for a long time. Dental implants are also very expensive in terms of treatment. Is it important to make sure you are under insurance coverage or your dental plan have that particular treatment option as well, but most chances normal dental plans don’t cover implants in it. In such conditions implants can cost you a lot. To avoid such situation, ask your dentist about in-house patient financing and pay your total bill in instalments direct to your dentist.
