Protect yourself from the flu and other nasty viruses
We all want to protect ourselves from flu and other nasty viruses. Have you had the flu recently? Are you worried about other nasty viruses? Coronavirus is all over the news. Just how do you protect yourself from catching the flu and other nasty viruses?
Get a flu vaccine

The best way to protect yourself from flu is to get an annual vaccine. Each year the vaccine changes in response to the most common types of flu that are spreading throughout the world. For the very young, elderly and vulnerable, the flu vaccine is given free on the NHS. If you are not in any of these categories it only costs a few pounds, so it is well worth the money.
Avoid close contact with people who may have flu or viruses

Always avoid people who are suffering from the flu or other viruses. Many viruses are airborne so you could breathe them in. If you have the flu avoid contact as much as possible with other people so you don’t pass it on. If you are able, avoid going to work or school.
Use disposable tissues when you have a flu or a virus

Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of the tissue once it it used. Avoid touching your face, mouth or nose. If you have been in contact with an infected surface this is the quickest way to contract a virus. Make sure that surfaces are cleaned regularly with an anti-bacterial cleaner. This is important for the home, office, school or any other place where people are.
Get rid of nasty flu or virus germs

Washing your hands regularly will help protect you from all sorts of germs. If you are out and about use an alcohol based hand rub. These are quite inexpensive and available at most chemists and supermarkets. Always wash your hands after using the bathroom.
Change your toothbrush if you have recovered from flu or a virus

Always change your toothbrush after having any type of cold or virus. Toothbrush heads are a breeding ground for germs. If you change your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head you are less likely to re-infect yourself. You can find our extensive range of toothbrushes and toothbrush heads in our online shop at Your Dentist Recommends.
Keep flu and viruses away
To avoid catching the flu or any kind of virus it is important to keep healthy. Make sure you have enough sleep. Keep yourself active and always drink plenty of fluids. We hope you manage to avoid catching anything nasty this flu season.
